Our 9 Years Journey
Ekklesia Ledihoch Yemisrach Agelgilot started its work in Ethiopia, Sendafa-Beke town by opening kindergarten in 2011. The targeted population is the poorest of poor with single headed parents and/or orphans or with families with no or low income. By so doing we have been providing free education, stationery, uniforms, lunch boxes, shoes and socks, sanitary materials, annual medical checkups and school feeding program.
1st year: Ekklesia Kindergarten started in 2011, with 75 children who were selected by the town kebele, educational office, administration office and woman and children office based on the above criteria.

2nd year: In the second year the school enrolled additional 30 students and started a school feeding program (Lunch). On the other hand, a Vocational Training center was opened and trained 22 poor women and 2 poor men Tailoring, Weaving. In addition to that, 55 people were trained on prevention of HIV/AIDS prevalence and other STDs and on HTPs. 52 people were trained on Animal husbandry, poultry farming, horticulture, improved seeds in the town administration hall.
3rd year: Through out these years the ministry was still performing its work in a rental compound and started the process of acquiring land from the local government to construct its own school compound. Meanwhile, 68 Children who finished their school graduated from kindergarten and enrolled for their grade education.

4th year: After witnessing our successive performance, the government acted on our land requisition and in February 2015, we have acquired 11,026 M2 land from Oromia urban land management agency. Though we were not able to construct a modern school building, we managed to build a temporary school block with wood and mud. We have also provided a suitable playground for the kids. Now the students are following their education in the new compound since September 2015.

Moreover, we managed to use the extra land for a wheat harvest and some horticulture and animal husbandry activities that supplemented the school feeding program.

5th year: Like the previous years, in 2016 the school enrolled additional students and continued all the support for their education. By evaluating its works compared to other education service providers in the area, The Charity and Society Agency awarded our ministry with furniture’s, computers with accessory and many types of equipment for the school.

6th Year: The school continued to contribute its part in providing quality education by hiring qualified staffs and teachers, providing free education, food once a day, medical checkups once a year, and other supports. Again in 2017 The Charity and Society Agency awarded the ministry with a car gift by examining and evaluating the work.

Another great accomplishment of the year was the construction of a water well. The fund came from our primary donor Children’s Hope Chest. This changed everything for the school by alleviating the water shortage problem that Sendafa town is experiencing.

7th year: In 2018 Children who started their education on 2011 upgraded to grade 5 and the school is in a very good condition. Currently the total number of children has reached to 261 (with 134 female and 127 male students) and we are playing our part in encouraging female education in the area.


8the year: In the year 2019 we have taken our first step in practicing market generation activity by starting poultry farming. Now our 540 + egg laying chicken are producing eggs for Sendafa and Addis Ababa markets.
9th Year: The year 2020 was challenging due to the pandemic. But with Gods grace we were able to continue our schooling by constructing more classrooms, Library and Science and Computer labs.
