In our effort of helping the needy, it’s crucial to find other ways that supplement some of our expenses. Accordingly, we have started a fish farm project in collaboration with Sendafa Agricultural Bureau. The Bureau has been providing technical support starting from preparation of the fish pond and a close follow-up ever since. They’ve also donated the Tilapia breeds thinking that our fish farm will be a showroom for others to share the experience.

Do you want a sneak peek of our poultry farming? This is your lucky day. We’ve informed you that we’ve purchased egg laying hens back in 2019. Guess what; we’re able to pay back our creditors (we took a loan for startup) and now we are able to generate income for the ministry by selling eggs. Our market outlets are both in Sendafa and also in Addis Ababa. Here is a picture of a pile of eggs ready for sell.

Today we have started the school feeding program, like we have been doing in the previous years. Our kids are now benefiting from the breakfast and lunch programs that was made possible with the help of Journey. We can’t tell you how much this means to the intellectual and physical development of the kids..

We are finally open! Due to the pandemic and the political unrest, school openings were delayed throughout the county. We finalized the school registration in the prior weeks and all the students and the staff were eagerly waiting for this date. we finally did it after we got the go-ahead message from the Bureau of Education. As part of the new school year, we made education material support, books, pens and pencils, facial masks, school bags etc which was made possible by the support of our sponsors and donors at Journey.

We are humbled by the generosity of our partners @ TDMM today we were able to donate 10 kg of wheat flour, 3 liters of oil and 4 soaps for selected 50 households who are highly affected by the pandemic. Representatives from Sendafa Mayor’s Office and different sector offices attended this awareness creation program. The importance of using a face covering, washing hands, keeping social distancing etc were clearly explained to community members.

In collaboration with our donors @ Journey we donated all-purpose flour, cooking oil, macaroni and essential cleaning materials to Ekklesia Academy Students’ parents/caregivers. A total of 348 households benefited as response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today we are happy to announce that the ground water in Ekklesia school compound is being shared with the community due to low water supply in Sendafa City. Credit goes to our donors @ CHC who participated in the construction of the well.

We are so humbled by the acts of the medical team who came to the school compound today to provide free medical checkups for our students. The team came all the way from Addis Ababa and gave treatments for 329 students. Afterward this team showed love for our kids by celebrating Christmas and provided them with gifts. We thank God for this team and for their unconditional love.

Today we have celebrated a warm Christmas party with our kids. The kids were so happy and excited on this day. Board members and visitors from local churches joined them on this special day. Our kids presented drama/play and sang Christmas songs.

With the help of our donors at Journey, we have officially started a breakfast program in addition to the lunch program we provide for our students. The breakfast menu is nutritious and it’s believed to better the lives of our students by minimizing school dropouts, irregular school attendance and fainting due to starvation We are so grateful and thankful for this generosity.

Today we have started the new school year after a long winter break. During the break time we have facilitated the school compound, constructed new classrooms, hired new teachers and staffs, purchased educational materials and school furniture enrolled new KG students. ‘Income Generation’ is one of the things that we have been striving to achieve through our ministry and we are taking a baby step towards that goal. We are thrilled to inform you all that we started poultry farming back in July and few of the hens started laying eggs and we sold it to the market. We are so thankful for the good hearts who participated in this.

With the help of God our school is closed with official parents’ day celebration. On this day our KG3 students graduated with a warm graduation party. Presents were provided for students who performed well in each class.

There has been some development regarding our water well that we want to share with you. Our donors @ CHC who provided the fund to construct the well now supported us with the solar system to pump out the water. Therefore, instead of pumping it manually we can easily use the solar system to access the water for our day-to-day activities in food preparation, horticultural activities, cleaning etc. We want to thank CHC for their support.

We are excited to announce that our school Ekklesia Academy is officially opened today for the 2011 E.C school year. Our students were so happy and full of joy to meet with their friends and classmates after the long winter break. All the teachers and the school staff welcomed the students with big gestures and good spirit. The school also provided educational materials to the students. We wish everyone to have a wonderful and fruitful year.

We have purchased different materials like desks, books, exercise books, floor mats, etc for Ekklesia Academy and delivered it to Sendafa. As you can see in the picture below the school staff is working actively in unloading the materials.

School is right around the corner. Our kids and their care givers are excited about the new school year. Meanwhile, our office has been busy preparing all materials needed for the academy. While we do that, our partners and donors are playing their parts in supporting the ministry. Just recently Dawit, Daniel, Bereket and Sofiya came to our office with exercise books, pencils, pens, money and other materials for the school. We are so thankful for their generosity.
